Invest in ME Research - Young EMERG Grants
Invest in ME Research is pleased to announce that it will be further supporting the Young EMERG group by providing
five grants to cover hotel expenses for delegates attending
the forthcoming Young EMERG International ME Workshop
in Vienna.
This additional support comes on top of the charity’s existing commitment to assist the Young EMERG committee members attending the event.
The charity will provide an award for up to five delegates,
each receiving support for two nights of hotel accommodation.
The Young EMERG team have arranged for a special rate for delegates at a hotel near to the workshop venue in Vienna.
This will provide more opportunity for ntworking and collaboration.
We would expect that awardees would provide a brief article on their experiences following the workshop for our supporters.
Decisions regarding the successful applicants will be made by Invest in ME Research, in collaboration with the Young EMERG steering committee.

The next Young EMERG workshop in Vienna promises to be an important opportunity for early career researchers in ME/CFS to connect,
collaborate, and exchange expertise.
Young/Early Career Researchers in Europe who are interested in Young EMERG and attending the workshop in person are
invited to contact the charity using the link below.
This article briefly informs of the charity's additional support for the Young EMERG group, in particular by provision of Conference attendance grants concerning the upcoming International Young EMERG workshop in Vienna on 27-28 November 2025.
Award Details
- Up to five delegates will receive support
- A special rate has been negotiated by the Young EMERG team at a hotel near the workshop venue which can be reserved
- Each award covers two nights of hotel accommodation at this hotel. If another hotel or accommodation is chosen then an equivalent amount will be awarded.
- Awardees are encouraged to submit a short article about their experiences for the charity’s supporters
Eligibility
Applicants :
- Must have an affiliation to a recognised research institute, university, or hospital
- Must be currently enrolled as a master’s, PhD, or medical student; or be a postdoctoral researcher.
Selection Process
Decisions will be made by Invest in ME Research in collaboration with the Young EMERG steering committee.
The charity can liaise directly with the recipient’s university or institute to ensure smooth arrangements, as required
Deadline
The deadline for receiving applications is currently by the end of the day on 14 November 2025. The scheme may end earlier if five awards have been decided before this date
Applications will begin to be judged from 13 October - after which we would expect to provide confirmation of a grant within three working days of reviewing successful applications

Early career researchers interested in attending in person should submit details using the form to the right.
A reply confirming receipt of your application will be given.
We would also expect that successful applicants would write a brief description of their experiences and the workshop following the event to introduce them to the charity's supporters and inform them of their attendance. This would appear on the charity's website.

Young EMERG (YEMERG)
Young EMERG (YEMERG) brings together the new wave of researchers to form a European support base that can facilitate collaboration with early career investigators in other continents.
The group encourages young and early career researchers to engage in ME research, building capacity and facilitating European and international collaboration.The next in the series of Young EMERG International ME Workshops has been arranged for Vienna, Austria.
The event will take place on 27-28 November 2025 at the Medical University of Vienna.
